Kyoto Japanese Market was established in 1966 when Taeko Matsubara started the store to provide authentic high quality Japanese products to the community, and since then it has been cherished by generations of family who has come through the door.  In April 2024, AJ (Tomomi) & Mike Aubuchon took over the market from Matsubara family continuing their legacy and adding some fresh new ideas of their own.  The market is currently serving fresh sushi and mouthwatering barbecue inspired by Japanese/Hawaiian cuisine with a little bit of Central Texas style barbecue featuring the offset smoker on the weekend (Fri-Sun).  See the menu and hours for more detail.   We are also building a craft beer brewery and will be serving house beers brewed on site by Mike Aubuchon, who had won many awards and melds at GABF, World Beer Cup, San Diego International Beer Competition, and Bistro IPA Fest during the time as the head brewer at Pizza Port Brewing Co. (Carlsbad Village).  Mike's passion for brewing beer combined with AJ's 25+ years of experience in the hospitality industry, they will make your visit worth awhile!
